The Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria calls for commitment to corporate governance and strategic membership growth during the inauguration of new executives in the South-West region.
Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, has underscored the importance of high corporate governance and ethical leadership standards among members. Speaking at the second Annual General Meeting and inauguration of new executives for the CIoD South-West Abeokuta Zone, he directed the new leadership to prioritize integrity, innovation, and member engagement as essential components for driving growth and maintaining the institute's stature as a professional authority in directorship.
Oyebanji pointed out that the CIoD has evolved from being a mere member-interest group to a statutory body responsible for the professionalization of directors in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for the new executives to actively expand membership and engagement strategies, reflecting a commitment to excellence in corporate governance. This call for action seeks to establish a framework that not only enhances the credibility of the institute but also fosters a culture of integrity in the corporate sector.
The significance of this meeting goes beyond the mere inauguration of new officers; it represents a proactive step in shaping the future of corporate governance in Nigeria. By advocating for a strategic approach to growth and member involvement, the CIoD aims to solidify its role as a benchmark for leadership quality within the business community. This initiative could potentially lead to improved governance practices across the region, ultimately benefiting the broader economy.
