Botswana: Mining Conference to Tackle Industrial Challenges

The upcoming Botswana Mining and Energy Conference and Expo aims to address the challenges facing the national economy in the energy sector and commodity sales.

The Botswana Mining and Energy Conference and Expo (BME) is set to take place on March 16 and 17 at the Boipuso Hall in Gaborone, providing a crucial platform for industry players amidst ongoing challenges in the energy sector and commodity sales. According to Mr. Tshepo Mhozya, the Country Director of Spire Events, the organizing entity for the conference, the event comes at an opportune time for stakeholders including policymakers, investors, and technology partners to engage in social dialogue.

The BME aims to rally regional and international stakeholders across the mining and energy value chains to address various industrial challenges while promoting the national economic diversification agenda outlined in the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP) and the twelfth National Development Plan (NDP 12). By focusing on advancing these economic strategies, the conference hopes to enhance the mining sector's contribution to the national economy and set a new trajectory for sustainable development.

Mr. Mhozya emphasized that the gathering would encompass the entire mineral resources value chain, which reflects a collaborative approach to addressing pressing issues within the sector. The conference thus serves as a crucial initiative for fostering partnerships and discussions essential for navigating the future of Botswana's mining and energy industries, reinforcing the significance of these sectors in the broader economic landscape of the country.
