Ejecting from a Fighter Aircraft Exposes the Human Body to Forces 20 Times Greater Than Gravity

Three American F-15E fighter jets were downed over Kuwait during a friendly fire incident, yet all crew members ejected safely despite the extreme forces involved.

On the night of last Monday (2), three American F-15E fighter jets were reportedly shot down over Kuwait in what appears to be a friendly fire incident during Operation Epic Fury, part of the joint military efforts of the United States and Israel against Iran. Fortunately, all six crew members managed to eject from the aircraft and are currently in stable condition. However, the term 'safety' becomes relative when considering the circumstances surrounding an ejection from a combat-speed aircraft.
