10,000 on the Danish list for countries in the Middle East
Currently, about 10,000 Danes are registered on the Danish list for various countries in the Middle East, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that there are approximately 10,000 citizens registered on the Danish list for several Middle Eastern countries. This list is meant to keep track of Danes residing in regions that may be undergoing instability or conflict. The registered individuals are spread across countries including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen.
Of these 10,000 individuals, the majority are located in the United Arab Emirates, with around 4,100 citizens believed to be there, where some commercial flights are currently operating. Egypt hosts around 2,800 Danes, while approximately 760 are in Turkey, where the situation is reported to be stable. In Qatar, about 550 Danes are listed, but with the airspace closed and authorities advising citizens to stay indoors, their situation is more precarious.
It's important to note that registration on the Danish list is voluntary, meaning that the actual number of Danes in these countries could vary significantly from the figures reported. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of the list for providing support and assistance to Danish citizens abroad, especially in areas that could pose risks to their safety and security. Overall, this report underscores the significance of monitoring expatriate populations in regions marked by geopolitical tensions.
