MP and PF execute warrants in Jundiaí in operation against corruption and money laundering scheme in the Civil Police

Police have executed multiple search warrants and arrested individuals in an operation targeting corruption and money laundering within the São Paulo Civil Police.

On Thursday, authorities executed 17 search and seizure warrants along with 11 preventive arrest warrants in Jundiaí and the capital of São Paulo as part of an ongoing operation led by the São Paulo Public Ministry in conjunction with the Federal Police and the General Inspection of the Civil Police. This operation has already resulted in the arrest of nine individuals suspected of being part of a systemic corruption and money laundering scheme involving key departments within the São Paulo Civil Police, highlighting significant implications for law enforcement integrity in the region.

Among those apprehended, three are Civil Police officers, including a high-ranking official, and a money handler, in addition to two other individuals under investigation. The extensive operation has revealed troubling allegations that the suspects transformed specialized police stations into centers for negotiation wherein they facilitated the protection of criminals in exchange for financial incentives. The gravity of these actions raises questions about the systemic vulnerabilities within law enforcement in São Paulo.

The operation is still ongoing, and as the investigations proceed, it is expected that more individuals may be implicated in this extensive web of corruption. Judge Paulo Fernando Deroma de Mello authorized a range of measures to ensure that the investigation continues to penetrate deeply into the issues at hand, demonstrating a robust response to corruption and a commitment to restoring integrity within the Civil Police of São Paulo.
