Labor will monitor with companies and unions the impact of the war conflict on employment to activate emergency measures

The Spanish government plans to collaborate with unions and businesses to assess the impact of international conflicts on employment and implement necessary public policies.

In response to growing concerns regarding the impact of conflicts in the Middle East on employment in Spain, the Ministry of Labor, led by Vice President Yolanda Díaz, announced a collaborative effort with labor unions and business associations to monitor the situation. This initiative aims to safeguard the workforce and the productive sector against potential negative economic repercussions stemming from geopolitical tensions and statements from international figures, including Donald Trump.

During a meeting involving union leaders and some employer representatives, Žad Díaz emphasized the government's commitment to providing necessary public policy support to ensure job security and economic stability. Although significant stakeholders, such as the president of the CEOE, were absent, the dialogue marked an essential step in fostering cooperation among different labor market actors. The unions, CC OO and UGT, have called for broader oversight that includes additional ministries and direct input from the Prime Minister’s office.

As global conflicts begin to exert influence over national economies, the initiative reflects the Spanish government's proactive approach to mitigating negative outcomes on employment. The monitoring efforts and proposed emergency measures underscore the urgency of addressing these challenges to ensure the resilience of Spain's workforce amid external economic pressures.
