Meet nine new exhibitions to visit in São Paulo in March
São Paulo will host nine new art exhibitions in March featuring large-scale installations, feminist themes, and critical revisions of art history.
Starting in March, São Paulo will unveil nine new art exhibitions across its major cultural institutions, including Masp, Pinacoteca, MAC USP, and Instituto Tomie Ohtake. The exhibitions will showcase works from notable artists like Isay Weinfeld, Claudia Alarcón, Pascale Marthine Tayou, and American artist Cindy Sherman, alongside contributions from indigenous collectives and Latin American artists.
A highlight is the exhibition 'Claudia Alarcón & Silät: Viver Tecendo,' which features 25 works by Alarcón and a collective of over a hundred women from the Wichí people, an indigenous community from Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay. The exhibition emphasizes weaving, a fundamental aspect of their cultural identity, with the artists transforming traditional techniques into contemporary art forms, including paintings and installations crafted from chaguar plant fibers.
These exhibitions not only celebrate diverse artistic expressions but also foster dialogues on architecture, politics, and identity, reflecting the rich cultural landscape of São Paulo. Art enthusiasts can explore these multi-faceted installations, intended to challenge viewers' perceptions and engage them in broader social discussions.
