Central Bank asked me to hear André Esteves's proposal about Master, says Vorcaro in messages
Daniel Vorcaro revealed in messages that the Central Bank of Brazil requested a meeting with banker André Esteves to discuss a proposal regarding Banco Master.
In a recent revelation involving the Central Bank of Brazil, Daniel Vorcaro communicated via mobile messages about a request he received to meet with André Esteves, the owner of BTG Pactual. This request, dated back to April of the previous year, was purportedly made for Vorcaro to discuss a proposal concerning Banco Master. According to the messages, Esteves remarked that Vorcaro should be grateful for the proposal he was receiving, hinting at its significance.
The messages exchanged between Vorcaro and his girlfriend have become crucial evidence, having been submitted by the Federal Police to the Mixed Parliamentary Inquiry Commission investigating alleged misappropriations at the National Institute of Social Security (INSS). These communications highlight the intricate relationship between private banking interests and regulatory bodies, raising questions about the influence of powerful individuals in Brazilian finance.
BTG Pactual's advisory reiterated the position it has maintained publicly, stating that there has been no genuine interest in acquiring Banco Master. Instead, they acknowledged having made only opportunistic purchases in non-troubled assets during periods of liquidity shortages at the institution. Meanwhile, the Central Bank has yet to respond to inquiries regarding these claims, leaving a gap in the ongoing dialogue surrounding this potentially controversial proposal.
