A man in Campina Grande, Brazil, was accused of impersonating a doctor at the Emergency and Trauma Hospital, where he allegedly approached patients and requested payments for medications. The fraud came to light on Wednesday, when several victims reported the scam to hospital authorities. The amount reported as lost by the victims totals R$ 380.

Rodrigo Celino, the hospital's legal representative, emphasized the importance of filing police reports, guiding the victims to formally document their experiences. He reassured the public that the Trauma Hospital of Campina Grande operates fully under the public health system (SUS), where no fees are charged for medications or exams, thus encouraging vigilance among patients regarding such fraudulent activities.

Following the reports, the case has been referred to the Civil Police for further investigation into the impersonation and fraudulent activities. This incident raises concerns about patient safety and the integrity of healthcare services, highlighting the need for increased awareness and protective measures for patients in hospital settings.
