Suspects Arrested for Assaulting Resident with Metal Pipe and Stealing Watches in Kamakura
Six men have been arrested for assaulting a resident with a metal pipe and stealing money and luxury watches in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture.
In Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, six men aged between 19 and 34 have been arrested by the prefectural police for allegedly breaking into a residence and assaulting a 40-year-old male occupant with a metal pipe. The attack took place on January 9 around 5:25 AM, during which the assailants reportedly inflicted injuries on the victim while stealing approximately 500,000 yen in cash and luxury watches valued at around 11 million yen. The police have noted the severity of the violence used in this robbery, categorizing it as both robbery and assault.
Investigations revealed that the police have identified multiple vehicles believed to have been used in the crime. After making these identifications and issuing alerts to nearby prefectures, the police arrested a 19-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man in Ibaraki Prefecture in connection with the vehicles. The two were found using the suspected getaway vehicles and arrested under charges related to the possession of burglary tools. The case has garnered attention due to the nature of the crime and the elaborate planning that evidently went into it.
According to the Kanagawa Prefectural Police, the suspects are believed to have communicated using a highly secure messaging application, indicating that they may be part of a loosely connected criminal group that engages in various crimes and operates anonymously. Authorities are currently investigating the background of the suspects and their connections to other thefts and robberies that have occurred in different prefectures, aiming to dismantle this emerging network of crime.
