Police cars with radar will catch more speeders
Swedish police have introduced radar-equipped patrol cars to enhance speed enforcement on the roads.
In an effort to improve road safety, Swedish police have started deploying patrol cars fitted with radar technology designed to catch speeders more effectively. This initiative was announced in a recent press release from the police, who expressed that the radar system is a much-needed tool to monitor vehicle speeds. Ursula Edström, a representative from the police, emphasized its potential to make the roads safer for everyone who uses them.
The radar system is capable of measuring the speed of vehicles that are either directly in front of the police car or oncoming. Remarkably, it can function both while the police car is moving and when it is stationary, making it a versatile addition to the police's traffic enforcement capabilities. According to the police, this radar technology can conduct 18 measurements per second and track numerous vehicles within its detection range, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of speed monitoring operations.
The introduction of this technology is significant for traffic law enforcement in Sweden. By increasing the chances of catching speeders, the initiative aims to deter speeding behaviors and ultimately reduce accidents on the roads. The police believe that with the enhanced capabilities of their patrol vehicles, they can contribute to achieving safer driving environments, benefiting all road users in Sweden.
