Tehran denies infiltration of Kurdish militants into its borders and confirms the destruction of their headquarters

Tehran denied reports of Kurdish militants crossing into Iran from Iraq while confirming the destruction of their bases.

Tehran has categorically denied reports from American media outlets that thousands of armed Kurds have infiltrated from Iraq into its territory. Iranian news agencies Tasnim and Mehr dismissed these claims and instead asserted that significant parts of the headquarters and ammunition depots of what they describe as "separatist terrorist groups" had been destroyed. These groups were said to have planned to breach Iran's western borders with alleged support from American and Israeli forces.

Further actions by Iran included a preemptive defensive strike against these separatist groups along the western border, coordinated with the Revolutionary Guard. The Iranian Intelligence Ministry stated that it is continuously monitoring movements along the border, prepared to thwart any plans perceived as threats from the United States, Israel, and their accomplices. Additionally, significant explosions targeting "separatists" in Iraq's Kurdistan region were reported by Iranian news agency Nour News.

In a related note, Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, reassured that the region will not be drawn into any military escalations that threaten the safety and security of its citizens. He emphasized that the Kurdistan Region remains committed to being a cornerstone for peace and stability in the area, a sentiment echoed by Masoud Barzani, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, underscoring the region's focus on diplomatic resolutions over conflict.
