Lee Jeong-hyeon: 'I will change my jacket... I will wear the old-fashioned jumper I wore during the election'
Lee Jeong-hyeon, chairman of the People Power Party's nomination committee, announced on social media that he will stop wearing a military-style jacket he previously donned, pledging to choose a more traditional attire instead.
On May 5, Lee Jeong-hyeon, the chairman of the People Power Party's nomination committee, stated that he would no longer wear a military-style jacket, a decision that comes after criticisms regarding his choice of clothing. In a post on Facebook, he acknowledged suggestions that he should change his attire and expressed his willingness to comply for the sake of winning the local elections.
The initial controversy arose when Lee wore the military-inspired jacket during a party meeting on April 20, which drew concern from a faction within his party known as 'Alternative and Future.' They highlighted their unease over the apparel choice in a meeting with the party leadership, prompting Lee's decision to reconsider his clothing for the election period.
Lee reflected on his history of receiving comments about his fashion sense throughout his political career, especially in the Honam region, admitting to a lack of style. He vowed to align with party members intending to unify for the elections and stated that he would opt for an 'old-fashioned' jumper that he had worn during campaign activities in the past, emphasizing that he remains committed to representing the party and the public, regardless of his clothing choices.
