Tjörn Bridge was closed after bomb threat

The Tjörn Bridge in Sweden was temporarily closed following a bomb threat made by a man, who was later arrested on suspicion of making the threat.

On Wednesday evening, police closed the Tjörn Bridge after receiving a bomb threat from a man who called in the threat targeting the bridge and its foundations. Morten Gunneng, the officer on duty, reported that the call was received around 10 PM, which prompted an immediate response from law enforcement. In order to ensure public safety, the bridge was shut down and a bomb squad was deployed to investigate.

The bridge remained closed for over two hours, causing disruptions in traffic until it was finally reopened around midnight. It serves as an important link in the area, thus the closure was significant not only for those in immediate proximity but also for broader traffic patterns. The threat was taken seriously by the police, leading to thorough investigations and a swift response.

A suspect was apprehended shortly afterward in an apartment in Stenungsund, and the incident has been classified as unlawful threats against a group. This event underlines the challenges authorities face regarding public safety and the serious consequences of making such threats, as law enforcement remains vigilant in ensuring community security.
