Singinghi, Reddy, Phulo, and Bauddh to go to Rajya Sabha, Congress announces names of 5 candidates

The Congress party has announced its five candidates for Rajya Sabha elections, including renowned lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi from Telangana.

The nomination process for 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states in India is set to conclude today. In light of this, the Congress party has revealed their nominees for various constituencies. Specifically, from Telangana, the party has decided to send senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi back to the Rajya Sabha. Singhvi, who is closely associated with the Gandhi family, is joined by Vem Narender Reddy, who is considered a trusted companion of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Reddy also serves as the Vice President of the Telangana Congress and has previously served as an MLA.

In addition to these candidates, Congress has opted to send Phulo Devi to the Rajya Sabha from Chhattisgarh, highlighting its commitment to represent the indigenous community. Phulo is recognized as a strong voice for the tribal population. From Haryana, the party has nominated Karamveer Bauddh, who hails from the Dalit community, showcasing Congress's approach to generating diverse representation within the legislative assembly. Furthermore, Anurag Sharma has been selected from Himachal Pradesh, and M. Christopher Tilak will represent the party from Tamil Nadu, thereby securing a range of candidates across different states.

This move marks a significant strategy by the Congress party to strengthen its representation in the Upper House, especially ahead of forthcoming legislative sessions.
