A mother and her 9-year-old daughter were saved by a Coast Guard couple who visited their hometown during the Lunar New Year holiday after the mother collapsed due to illness.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, a 40-year-old woman and her 9-year-old daughter were found in a critical condition at their home in Jeollanam-do, South Korea. The couple, who served in the Mokpo Coast Guard, discovered their plight when local residents informed them that the family had not been seen for some time. Upon entering the home, they found the mother unable to move and the daughter in a severely weakened state, with their home lacking proper food and heating.
The Coast Guard pair quickly acted by taking the mother to a nearby hospital after realizing the severity of her condition, which had been exacerbated by the cold and lack of food.
