Zelensky: Ukraine's partners have requested assistance to confront Iranian drones

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has offered to provide his country's partners with interceptor aircraft to counter Iranian drones, in exchange for US Patriot missiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his country is ready to assist its international partners in countering Iranian drones by offering interceptor aircraft. This proposal was made during a time when Ukraine seeks to bolster its defense capabilities in light of ongoing conflicts. Zelensky highlighted that partners, including the United States and some Middle Eastern nations, have sought Ukraine’s expertise in defending against drone attacks.

In his recorded address, Zelensky emphasized that the support request for assistance came in direct response to the threat posed by Iranian Shahed drones, widely used in various conflicts. The Ukrainian President indicated that the requests stem also from the United States, underscoring the growing concern about drone warfare and its implications on modern combat scenarios. He suggested that the provision of interceptor aircraft could enhance the defensive measures against these aerial threats.

Furthermore, Ukrainian officials reiterated their commitment to sharing their extensive experience in countering drones, gained through four years of conflict with Russia. Ukraine has developed a range of technologies and tactics specifically designed to intercept and neutralize Russian drones, and is prepared to leverage this knowledge to assist its partners, should a ceasefire with Russia be adhered to. This collaboration underscores Ukraine's integral role in global security dynamics and its strategic partnerships necessary to combat emerging threats like drone warfare.
