Caixa Econômica Federal reported a record recurring net profit of R$ 15.5 billion in 2025, marking a 10.4% increase from the previous year.
Caixa Econômica Federal, a major Brazilian state bank, announced a remarkable recurring net profit of R$ 15.5 billion for the year 2025, representing a 10.4% growth compared to 2024. This performance illustrates the bank's ability to enhance its profitability, reflected in its Return on Equity (ROE) of 10.7%, which increased by 0.3 percentage points from December 2024. The improved profitability is a positive sign of the bank's financial health amid challenging economic conditions.
The bank's total credit portfolio reached R$ 1.378 trillion, with an impressive year-on-year growth of 11.5%. Notably, loans to corporate clients surged by 14.2%, reaching R$ 114.7 billion, indicating a strong demand for financing in the business sector. Personal credit also saw significant growth, increasing by 13.4% to R$ 152 billion, while the bank's flagship mortgage segment rose by 13% to R$ 938 billion, showcasing the continuation of strong housing demand in Brazil.
Despite the positive growth figures, the bank reported an increase in its delinquency rate for loans overdue by more than 90 days, climbing to 3.07%, marking an increase of 1.09 percentage points. This uptick in delinquency could signal potential challenges ahead, as economic pressures may impact borrowers' ability to repay. Overall, Caixa's robust profits and growing credit portfolio underscore its crucial role in Brazil's financial landscape, but the rising delinquency rates warrant close monitoring by stakeholders.
