Delegate wants to hear from the direction of the school in Rio where some suspects of rape studied
The police are investigating a collective rape case involving several suspects who studied at a prominent school in Rio de Janeiro.
The chief police officer of the 12th DP (Copacabana), Ângelo Lages, has expressed the intention to interview the administration of the Pedro 2º school in Humaitá, where several suspects involved in the collective rape of a 17-year-old girl were students. The incident occurred in the southern zone of Rio de Janeiro, drawing significant attention to the school and its environment. Pedro 2º is noted for being the oldest secondary educational institution in Brazil.
Among those involved is Vitor Hugo Oliveira Simonin, who along with a 17-year-old adolescent has been expelled from the school following these serious allegations. Despite the severity of the situation, the juvenile suspect has not been apprehended by the judicial authorities. Vitor Hugo turned himself in on Wednesday, claiming to have not participated in the act of rape, although he was present at the scene of the crime. His defense attorney has stated this position publicly, aiming to clarify his role in the case against him.
Additionally, another suspect, João Gabriel Xavier Bertho, who was arrested the previous day, also denies involvement in the crime through his lawyer. Other suspects, Mattheus Veríssimo Zoel Martins and Bruno Felipe Santos Allegretti, are in custody, but their legal representation has yet to be identified. This case raises serious concerns about student behavior and safety in schools, prompting discussions on how institutions can better address such incidents to protect students and ensure justice is served.
