Teenager is apprehended with drugs while riding a mototaxi on a highway in the interior of SP

A 16-year-old teenager was caught with drugs while traveling on a mototaxi in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil.

On Wednesday, a 16-year-old was apprehended by the Federal Highway Police on the Transbrasiliana (BR-153) highway in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, while riding in a mototaxi. During the police stop, he was found to be in possession of 85 drug portions, including marijuana, dry, ice, and ecstasy. The teenager admitted to transporting these substances to a known drug trafficking location.

The mototaxi driver, who had picked the teenager up from the Marajó neighborhood and was en route to the Boa Vista neighborhood, provided a statement to the authorities regarding the situation. His cooperation implies he may not have been aware of the illegal activity the passenger was involved in, but it raises questions about the regulation of mototaxis and their potential use in criminal activities.

This incident has been recorded at the Central de Flagrantes in São José do Rio Preto, where the juvenile was charged with an infraction related to drug trafficking. Such cases highlight the ongoing issues regarding drug distribution networks in Brazilian cities, especially among minors, and the efforts of law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in the region.
