The Estonian women's ice hockey team has made a significant mark in the World Championships by winning four matches and clinching first place in the third division B group. This impressive feat guarantees their promotion to the third division A group for the following year, showcasing the continual development and growing competitiveness of Estonian women's ice hockey on the international stage.
With a standout performance, Estonia achieved a remarkable 14:1 victory against Singapore among other wins, including a 7:0 victory over South Africa, a 4:1 win against Israel, and a 3:1 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina. This overwhelming dominance was highlighted by their total of 71 shots on goal against just 6 from their opponents, illustrating both their skill and determination to excel. Notably, the 14:1 win matched their previous record for the largest victory, which was set during their World Championships debut in Romania in March 2007.
A key factor in this success was player Aleksandra Stolyarova, who notably contributed to scoring with 5 goals and 3 assists in the decisive game against Singapore. With a total of 15 points (10 goals and 5 assists) over four games, she not only led her team to victory but also positioned herself as a top scorer in the championship standings, underscoring the individual talents emerging from the Estonian women's ice hockey program and the promising future ahead for the sport in Estonia.
