National Assembly will meet in Samborondón and Cuenca in the next two weeks

The Ecuadorian National Assembly is scheduled to hold meetings in Samborondón and Cuenca over the next two weeks as part of its mobile sessions initiative.

The Ecuadorian National Assembly will continue its initiative of holding sessions outside the traditional legislative environment, with upcoming meetings planned in Samborondón and Cuenca. From March 9 to 13, the assembly will convene at the Ecotec University campus in Samborondón, Guayas province. Following this, sessions are set for March 16 to 20 in Cuenca, Azuay province, at the facilities of the Universidad Católica de Cuenca. This practice aims to enhance engagement with diverse communities throughout the country.

The assemblies are part of a broader strategy to extend the reach of the legislative process beyond the capital city, allowing for greater public participation and transparency. A third session is also in the works for Machala, El Oro province, although the details of that meeting are still being finalized. This proactive approach represents an effort by the National Assembly, under the administration of Niels Olsen, to cover the logistical costs for assembly members and improve accessibility for Ecuadorians.

In terms of logistics, the National Assembly is responsible for the air and land travel expenses of the summoned assembly members and ensures technical teams from the Communication Secretary's office are present to facilitate the transmission of these sessions. The initiative not only provides a platform for local voices to be heard but also reflects a commitment to more transparent governance in Ecuador, reinforcing the notion that legislative bodies are accessible to citizens across various regions.
