Number of Iranian ballistic missiles fired plunges since start of Operation Epic Fury
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff reported a significant drop in Iranian ballistic missile launches since Operation Epic Fury began, indicating greater U.S. military effectiveness in the region.
The number of Iranian ballistic missiles launched has significantly decreased since the beginning of Operation Epic Fury, according to Gen. Dan Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He noted at a Pentagon briefing that missile launches have decreased by 86% since the operation started on Saturday, with a 23% decline occurring within just the last 24 hours. This sharp reduction in Iranian missile activity is being interpreted as an indicator of the operational impact of U.S. military forces in the region and their capacity to disrupt Iranian military capabilities.
Caine further stated that the reduction in Iranian one-way attack drone launches has reached 73% since the commencement of the operation. He emphasized that the ongoing efforts of the Central Command (CENTCOM) have enabled the U.S. to establish localized air superiority along the Iranian coast, which has allowed them to strike Iranian targets with overwhelming precision and firepower. This assertion points to a significant shift in the military landscape in the area, where U.S. forces are systematically degrading the capabilities of Iranian military resources.
Moreover, neighboring Gulf states have reported successful interceptions of numerous Iranian drones and missiles aimed at civilian infrastructure and U.S. embassy facilities. The United Arab Emirates has publicly confirmed the effectiveness of its air defense systems, stating that they have intercepted many of these threats. This collective success against Iranian missile and drone attacks could potentially reshape the dynamics of security and military engagement in the Middle East, further complicating the regional geopolitical climate.
