The Delegacia de Defesa da Mulher (DDM) in Sorocaba, São Paulo, has launched an investigation into a 48-year-old man accused of sexually harassing a 14-year-old girl. The incident reportedly took place in the self-service supermarket of a residential condominium where both the suspect and the victim reside. Security footage shows the man pretending to be on a phone call while attempting to get closer to the girl, who initially moves away from him. When she turns her back, he continues to close the distance and makes unwanted contact with her.

The incident occurred in February and was officially reported to the police as sexual harassment. The family of the girl managed to obtain the supermarket's security footage, which played a critical role in filing the police report on the same day as the harassment. In response to the incident, the local Child Guardian Council has been informed, and they are actively monitoring the situation. The family has also received guidance on the necessary steps to take following this distressing event.

As part of the support process, the 14-year-old girl is expected to undergo a specialized hearing at the Group of Research and Assistance for Children. This critical phase aims to provide her with the necessary psychological and social support as the investigation unfolds, emphasizing the importance of protecting minors from such incidents of sexual harassment within their communities.
