Shooting in Rogoredo, the head of the police station where Cinturrino was serving has been transferred
The investigation into the Rogoredo shooting expands as the head of the police station, Osvaldo Rocchi, is transferred amid rising scrutiny of officers involved in the case.
The ongoing investigation into the Rogoredo shooting has prompted significant changes within the Milan police department. Osvaldo Rocchi, the head of the Mecenate police station, where Carmelo Cinturrino, the arresting officer implicated in the murder of drug dealer Abderrahim Mansouri, was serving, has been reassigned to the Milan Questura. This move comes as four other officers from the same station face investigation for aiding and abetting and failing to assist in emergencies. The police are already in the process of appointing Rocchi's successor.
In addition to Rocchi's transfer, the officers currently under investigation have been reassigned to non-operational duties at different stations, indicating that the police department is taking these allegations seriously and is attempting to distance itself from the controversy surrounding the incident. This reassignment reflects a broader commitment to address the internal issues that have been highlighted by the investigation.
As the investigation unfolds, it is also expanding its focus. What began as an inquiry into the specific events at Rogoredo is now looking at a wider area in Milan, encompassing locations such as via Mecenate, piazza Corvetto, and extending to Calvairate. This represents a significant broadening of the scope of the inquiry, suggesting that authorities are keen to understand the larger context surrounding the shooting and any potential systemic problems within policing in the area.
