Israel says it attacked complex housing Iran's security organs
Israel has conducted a large-scale attack on a military complex in Iran that houses key security organizations, including the Revolutionary Guard and Quds Brigade.
On Wednesday, Israel announced that it had executed a large-scale strike on a military complex located in eastern Tehran, home to several key Iranian security agencies. This operation was reportedly carried out by Israeli fighter jets which targeted the complex while Iranian soldiers were detected in the vicinity. The local press indicated that over 100 fighter jets from the Israeli Air Force were mobilized, dropping more than 250 bombs in the endeavor.
The Revolutionary Guard, which was established after the 1979 Iranian Revolution to safeguard the newly formed theocratic regime, is central to Iran's national security framework. Within it, the Quds Brigade serves as an elite unit tasked with foreign missions, while the Basij militia, composed of volunteers, is known for alleged human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings and torture, as well as enforcing Islamic law.
This escalation further complicates the already tense geopolitical landscape in the region, showcasing Israel's ongoing military operations against Iranian interests and signaling a possible increase in hostilities. The implications of such actions could lead to more aggressive retaliatory measures from Iran, potentially destabilizing an already volatile situation in the Middle East.
