Ana Karen Nute took a Didi motorcycle in Edomex and disappeared; was found dead on the highway
Nineteen-year-old Ana Karen Nute was found dead in Metepec, Mexico, after being reported missing following her last sighting on a Didi motorcycle.
Ana Karen Nute TΓ©llez, a 19-year-old girl, has been found dead in a sparsely populated area of San Miguel Totocuitlapilco, Metepec, located in the Toluca Valley. She had been reported missing at the end of the previous month in the neighboring municipality of San Antonio la Isla. Her body was discovered underneath some trees close to the Tenango del Valle-Toluca highway, raising concerns regarding violence and safety in the region.
The last known location of Ana Karen was captured by a security camera at the Villas del Sauce housing complex in San Antonio la Isla, where she was seen getting onto a motorcycle ordered through the Didi platform. Accompanying her was an unidentified man wearing a black cap, stirring fears about her well-being during the time she was missing. The authorities are currently investigating whether this footage can provide critical clues to the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and subsequent death.
This case highlights the increasing concerns surrounding safety and gender-based violence in Mexico, particularly given the rising number of disappearances and violent crimes against women. The Mexican Attorney General's Office for the State of Mexico has been tasked with analyzing the evidence and following leads in hopes of bringing justice for Ana Karen and addressing the underlying issues of insecurity that afflict many communities in the region.
