Watch.. Hezbollah targets Israeli Merkava in southern Lebanon
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for targeting an Israeli Merkava tank in southern Lebanon, resulting in injuries to two Israeli soldiers.
On Wednesday, Hezbollah released footage of an operation carried out the previous day targeting an Israeli Merkava tank near the southern Lebanese town of Kfarkala. According to Hezbollah, the operation involved a precise observation of the tank, which was subsequently hit with a Kornet missile, resulting in a direct strike and igniting the vehicle. The Israeli army acknowledged the attack, reporting two soldiers were wounded during the incident.
In addition to the Kfarkala attack, Hezbollah claimed later in the day that it had targeted a military base at Tel Hashomer southeast of Tel Aviv with a barrage of sophisticated missiles. The organization also mentioned that it had conducted drone strikes and missile attacks against military sites and command posts in northern and central Israel since dawn. These actions were framed as a response to ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanese cities and towns, including the southern suburb of Beirut.
Hezbollah's operations are indicative of the escalating tensions and confrontations along the Israel-Lebanon border. The group's stated rationale for these attacks highlights the complex and volatile nature of the regional situation, where retaliatory strikes can quickly spiral into broader conflicts, reflecting a continuous cycle of violence between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.
