A motorcyclist named Edenilson Silveira, known as 'Seu Dilson', was rescued by local residents after being swept away by strong currents at the Três Barras reservoir in Graccho Cardoso, Sergipe. The incident occurred when he attempted to cross the dam and fell into a submerged hole. Fortunately, despite suffering from scratches on his back, he is reported to be well after the rescue. His motorcycle sustained damages to the front, and water entered the engine.
The rescue operation was captured in images showing locals assisting the victim out of the water. The rising river levels have been attributed to recent rainfall in the state, where Graccho Cardoso has recorded the third-highest rainfall volume in Sergipe for February, totaling 188 mm. This flooding has posed increased risks for residents and travelers in the area, underscoring the importance of caution when navigating local waterways during rainfall.
