Poll in Israel: 93% of Jewish citizens support operation in Iran, compared to 26% of Arabs
A recent poll shows overwhelming support among Jewish Israelis for the ongoing military operation against Iran, contrasting sharply with the much lower support from Arab citizens.
A significant majority of Jewish Israelis back the ongoing U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran, as indicated by recent findings from the Israel Democracy Institute. According to the survey, a staggering 93% of Jewish respondents expressed support for Operation "Roaring Lion," while just 26% of Arab respondents were in favor, resulting in an overall support level of 82%. Among Jewish respondents, 57% believe that the operation should continue until Iran's nuclear and ballistic capabilities are eliminated, and beyond that until the Islamic regime is overturned, while 36% feel it should end once the more limited objectives are achieved.
Additionally, the poll demonstrates a stark contrast in trust towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with 74% of Jewish respondents expressing confidence in his handling of the operation, as opposed to only 16% of Arab respondents. This disparity highlights the broader divisions within Israeli society regarding national security and foreign military engagements. The prevailing sentiment among Jewish citizens underscores the perceived existential threat posed by Iran, reinforcing the government's current military strategy.
The implications of such polling results are significant, as they underscore the polarized views within Israel concerning the ongoing conflict and its objectives, particularly around issues of national identity and security. With a large majority willing to support military actions that some Arab citizens may view as aggressive, this could potentially widen societal divisions further, impacting domestic policy and relations among diverse communities within Israel.
