BYD Song Plus receives turbo and maintains the price of the previous version, at R$ 249,990
BYD has updated its Song Plus, Brazil's second best-selling hybrid in 2025, enhancing its mechanical performance while retaining its pricing.
BYD has introduced an upgraded version of the Song Plus, which is the second best-selling hybrid vehicle in Brazil as of 2025. While the exterior design remains largely unchanged, significant improvements have been made under the hood and in efficiency, positioning the vehicle in a competitive market against rivals like the GWM Haval H6 PHEV. This evolution aims to maintain the model's relevance as consumer demand for hybrid vehicles continues to grow.
The most notable change is the replacement of the previous 1.5-liter aspirated engine with a new turbocharged engine. This upgrade, coupled with an electric motor, enhances both performance and fuel efficiency for drivers. Additionally, the battery capacity has been increased from 18.3 kWh to 26.3 kWh, allowing the Song Plus to travel up to 99 km on a single charge, thus reducing the gap in driving range compared to fully electric models from competitors, such as GWM's Wey and Haval H6, which boast ranges of 128 km and 119 km, respectively.
With the new battery, BYD claims the Song Plus can achieve a combined range of up to 1,150 km when utilizing both electric and fuel power. While this figure is impressive, it slightly undercuts the 1,200 km range previously estimated by the company, indicating a focused yet ambitious performance strategy as BYD looks to solidify its position in the hybrid vehicle market in Brazil.
