Fuel prices have increased significantly in Estonian gas stations due to fighting in the Middle East

Fuel prices in Estonia surged sharply due to rising oil prices linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

Recent conflict in the Middle East has led to a notable increase in oil prices on the world market, which has resulted in significantly higher fuel prices at Estonian gas stations. As of the beginning of the week, the price for diesel fuel at Alexela gas stations was €1.409 per liter, while gasoline 95 was priced at €1.529 per liter. By the latter part of Wednesday, these prices rose considerably, with diesel costing €1.759 and gasoline 95 reaching €1.659 per liter.

Circle K gas stations also reported price increases, where diesel was priced at €1.699 and gasoline 95 at €1.779 per liter. Alan Vaht, a board member of a terminal, noted the fluctuating nature of fuel prices recently, indicating that prices rose between 3 to 5 cents higher than last Thursday before experiencing a drop of 5 cents within half an hour, yet remaining 10 cents lower than the previous week's price.

Tarmo KΓ€rsna, a member of Alexela’s board, warned that a more significant price increase could be expected later in the week. The volatility in fuel prices highlights the direct impact of international conflicts on local economies, particularly in a small country like Estonia, where fuel is an essential commodity.
