In response to recent flooding in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, a task force from the Public Defender's Office is actively engaging with residents to inform them of their rights amidst the natural disaster. They are offering support on accessing various benefits and exemptions that may aid those affected by the calamity. The initiative includes a mobile unit that will be stationed in various neighborhoods over the coming days to ensure widespread access to this information.

Starting this Wednesday, the mobile unit will be available in the Industrial neighborhood, followed by visits to the Esplanada and JK neighborhoods in the coming days. On Saturday, the unit will set up in the Olavo Costa neighborhood, providing services from 9 am to 1 pm. Residents can seek advice on a range of topics including property tax exemptions, housing assistance, funeral aid, and early access to social security benefits among others.

This initiative highlights the proactive role of the Public Defender's Office in ensuring that citizens are aware of their rights in the aftermath of a climate-related disaster. By making these services available directly in the affected neighborhoods, the program aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by residents and facilitate access to essential resources during a challenging time.
