Recent surveillance footage has captured at least four such incidents in just two weeks this year, highlighting the alarming frequency of these crimes. The assailants typically operate in pairs at night, pretending to make deliveries, which allows them to target unsuspecting pedestrians, including locals, tourists, and workers.

The modus operandi of these criminals is shockingly efficient, with each robbery taking as little as one minute. Dressed as delivery individuals, they park their motorcycles close to the sidewalk, waiting for their victims to come within reach. As soon as a pedestrian approaches, they brandish weapons and demand valuables, swiftly stealing mobile phones, cash, and jewelry before fleeing the scene. This unsettling trend has instilled fear among residents, who are now wary of walking the streets, notably in an area known for its vibrant nightlife and social hotspots.

In January alone, there were 27 reported incidents of mobile phone theft in the vicinity, signaling a serious threat to public safety. Local residents have expressed their concerns and many have started to avoid going out at night, which is significantly affecting both their quality of life and the social dynamics of a neighborhood that has historically thrived on its bustling nightlife and communal atmosphere.
