On February 26, the Federal Court conducted a hearing concerning the future of the Fisherman's Cabin located at Praia das Conchas in Peró, Cabo Frio, a region in the state of Rio de Janeiro known for its coastal attractions. The meeting concluded without any resolution, directing the ongoing discussions towards the conversion of the Fisherman's Cabin into a public cultural space. The proposal includes restoring the building to serve as a cultural center or museum dedicated to the history of artisanal fishing in the Peró area.

The plan encompasses permanent exhibitions about the local beachfront's history, educational activities, and the preservation of the original structure of the building. Additionally, there is a focus on honoring the legacy of Jamil Silva dos Anjos, an important figure in the local fishing community, ensuring that his story remains an integral part of the museum's narrative. Family members of Jamil have expressed that while the judicial outcome may not be ideal for them, the establishment of a museum could help protect his memory from being forgotten.

The court has ordered that, within 30 days, the relevant federal authorities finalize their decisions regarding the Fisherman’s Cabin’s future. This development is significant not just for preserving local history but also for enhancing cultural tourism in Cabo Frio, showcasing the region's fishing traditions and community heritage.
