La Stampa, agreement reached by Gedi for the transfer to the Sae Group

The Gedi Group has signed a preliminary contract to transfer La Stampa to the Sae Group, including associated publications and digital operations.

The Gedi Group and Sae Group have formalized a preliminary agreement for the acquisition of the newspaper La Stampa. This transfer includes associated publications, digital operations, printing centers, a local advertising sales network, and staff support functions. The deal is set to be executed through a newly established vehicle controlled by Sae Group, which also plans to include investors from the Northwest region of Italy.

According to a joint statement, the Sae Group's extensive experience in information and communication services at a national level lays a strong foundation for creating a sustainable and long-term editorial project. The aim is to ensure continuity in La Stampa’s historical positioning while preserving its editorial independence and strong connection with the local territory. This acquisition reflects a trend of consolidation in the Italian media landscape, as smaller outlets seek stability amidst declining traditional revenue streams.

The agreement comes at a time of significant challenges for print media in Italy, marked by shifts in consumer behavior and the increasing dominance of digital platforms. The focus on maintaining La Stampa's editorial independence suggests that despite ownership changes, the commitment to quality journalism and local engagement will remain a priority, paving the way for future growth and adaptation in the evolving media ecosystem.
