Kerli Veski, daughter of Anne Veski working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, barely made it to her mother's jubilee party
Kerli Veski, the Deputy Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, briefly discussed her mother's jubilee during a recent television appearance, while also addressing concerns regarding Estonians stranded in the UAE due to regional conflicts.
In a recent episode of the Estonian television program "Ringvaade," Kerli Veski, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made an appearance where she discussed both her mother's jubilee and the pressing issues faced by Estonian citizens in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Kerli reflected on the challenges those stranded due to ongoing conflicts, particularly those related to Iranian attacks, are currently encountering. Many travelers had expected to return home after their vacations, but now face uncertainty as airspace is closed due to security concerns.
Kerli Veski indicated the seriousness of the situation, noting that approximately 3,000 Estonians are in the affected area, with around 1,500 there as tourists. She expressed empathy for the families waiting for their loved ones to return home and assured that the Ministry is actively monitoring the situation. She stated, "These people are not in a simple situation," emphasizing the urgency and complexity of the current travel restrictions and the necessity for government intervention.
To address this issue, the Foreign Ministry is preparing to find air operators willing to facilitate special flights for those stranded, as regular commercial flights are currently not an option. The Ministry is making every effort to understand when these flights might resume, showcasing their commitment to ensuring the safety and return of Estonians abroad during turbulent times.
