Police stations fly flags at half-mast in honor of deceased officers
The Finnish police participate for the first time in an Interpol campaign to honor officers who have died in the line of duty.
This week, the Finnish police are marking a significant occasion by participating for the first time in an international campaign organized by Interpol, which honors police officers who have lost their lives while on duty. This initiative includes flying flags at half-mast at police stations across Finland on Friday, coinciding with a global memorial day held by Interpol on Saturday.
The campaign also features the Global Blue Chain initiative, which sees iconic buildings and landmarks around the world illuminated in blue to symbolize solidarity with fallen officers. In Finland, the Police University College will contribute by illuminating the main building of its Hervanta campus in blue on both Friday and Saturday, enhancing visibility and awareness of the memorial activities.
This initiative underscores the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel and aims to foster a sense of community and respect for those who serve and protect. By joining this global movement, Finnish police are not only honoring their own but also aligning with an international framework of support and recognition for police forces worldwide.
