'Bridgerton 4' Hae-Rin: 'I received a casting suggestion at a supermarket in Taean'
Korean-Australian actress Hae-Rin has been cast as the lead in the fourth season of Netflix's hit series 'Bridgerton,' which she learned about while shopping with her mother.
Korean-Australian actress Hae-Rin has been selected to star as the lead character in season 4 of the popular Netflix series 'Bridgerton.' During a press conference in Myeong-dong, Seoul, she shared that she received the news while having breakfast with her mother, an emotional moment that drew the attention of those around her. The casting process began unexpectedly when she was approached by her agent while shopping at a Lotte Mart in Taean, prompting her to quickly submit audition footage within 24 hours.
Hae-Rin expressed surprise at being chosen for the lead role of Sophie Baek, as she was aware of the competition from other talented actresses. Nevertheless, her casting counterpart, Luke Thompson, believed in her potential early on during the audition process. Hae-Rin recalled her initial doubts about being selected, considering that there were likely many other actresses who were not only more talented but also more conventionally attractive. However, Thompson recognized her immediately when she entered the audition room, affirming her role as Sophie.
The unique aspect of Hae-Rin's casting in a lead role in a Netflix series lies in the diversity portrayed in 'Bridgerton.' While the show is set in 19th century England, it features a multi-ethnic cast, reflecting a more modern and inclusive perspective on aristocracy that contrasts with traditional historical narratives. This representation resonates with contemporary societal values, showcasing a blend of historical context with modern inclusivity, and Hae-Rin's role amplifies the series' commitment to diversity in storytelling.
