SSG.com: Leap to Online E-Mart... Strengthening Delivery, Fresh Food, and Membership Benefits

SSG.com aims to dominate the online grocery market by enhancing delivery services, fresh food quality, and membership benefits.

SSG.com, the e-commerce platform of Shinsegae Group, is launching initiatives to solidify its position in South Korea's online grocery market on its 12th anniversary. The company has announced plans to increase delivery volumes significantly through its logistical facilities at over 100 E-Mart stores nationwide, including finer categorization of delivery time slots based on area to as many as five options. This will improve customer convenience and potentially lead to increased market share.

Moreover, SSG.com is accelerating the expansion of its quick commerce services, notably the 'Baro Quick' service that promises deliveries within an hour within a 3km radius of E-Mart stores, with plans to expand the number of logistical hubs from 60 to 90 by the second quarter. The platform is also revamping its guaranteed delivery service, 'Star Delivery', which will utilize a national logistics network to ensure that temperature-sensitive products arrive on the promised day even in regions without scheduled delivery options.

In addition to these logistical improvements, SSG.com aims to strengthen its identity as the 'Online E-Mart' by applying the same fresh food quality standards as its physical stores and offering a fresh guarantee policy for unsatisfied customers. The launch of new subscription services, including a basic plan with a steady rewards system and a tier that includes streaming content from CJ Group’s Tving, indicates a broad strategy to enhance competitive edge amidst a rapidly evolving e-commerce landscape, especially following consumer shifts due to major incidents at rivals like Coupang.
