Last month's F-16 crash accident was caused by a mid-air collision with another fighter jet
The F-16 crash in Gyeongbuk, South Korea, was due to a mid-air collision during night training exercises between two fighter jets.
On the evening of August 25, an F-16 fighter jet crashed in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk, during a night flying training exercise involving two aircraft. The incident occurred at 6:58 PM shortly after both jets took off from the Air Force's Chungju base. According to the Air Force, the training focused on advanced tactical maneuvers requiring night vision goggles (NVG). During a turn, the left fuel tank of the first aircraft collided with the right wing of the second aircraft, leading to critical failures in the second jet's systems, including the heads-up display (HUD), rendering it difficult for the pilot to control the altitude of the aircraft.
