The State Labour Inspectorate (VDI) has initiated an investigation following the receipt of two complaints detailing potential labor rights violations at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU). According to VDI representative Erikā Bērziņa via regional VDI head Andris Saulītis, the information provided in the complaints is quite general, necessitating a broader examination, which means that the analysis of the submitted documents will take additional time.
LBTU has responded to the ongoing investigation by emphasizing its commitment to ensuring a legal, responsible, and respectful working environment. The university asserts that its employees are entitled to defend their rights as defined by law and can seek recourse with the relevant authorities if necessary. This stance highlights the institution's intention to maintain transparency and uphold workers' rights while cooperating with inspecting authorities, including the VDI.
In light of these developments, LBTU has stated that it actively collaborates with inspection bodies by providing requested information and documentation in accordance with legal regulations during disputes or uncertainties. The university's approach aims to foster constructive relationships with oversight entities and ensure compliance with labor laws, demonstrating its dedication to addressing any grievances raised by staff members while reinforcing a positive workplace culture.
