The frigates 'Kimone' and 'Psara' docked in Cyprus
The Greek Navy's frigates 'Kimone' and 'Psara' have arrived in Cyprus as tension rises in the region, alongside a travel advisory update from the U.S. Department of State.
The Greek Navy has sent two frigates, 'Kimone' and 'Psara', which docked early Wednesday morning in Cyprus, amidst escalating tensions in the area. In addition to the frigates, two pairs of F-16 fighter jets have also been deployed to the island, enhancing Greece's military presence in response to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. The frigates are currently stationed off the coast of Paphos, ready to support regional stability efforts.
Furthermore, the U.S. Department of State has upgraded its travel advisory for Cyprus to Level 3, which urges travelers to reconsider their trips due to the developing situation. This advisory comes with the recommendation for the evacuation of non-essential government personnel and their families from the island, prompting American authorities to advise travelers to remain vigilant and have a contingency plan for emergencies.
In conjunction with these military and advisory updates, repatriation flights have begun for Cypriots stranded in areas affected by the Middle Eastern crisis, as announced by the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis. This initiative underscores Cyprus's proactive stance in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its citizens during international tensions.
