Ekiti, T.Y. Danjuma Airport train 20 aviation firefighters
Twenty aviation firefighters have graduated from a training program aimed at enhancing emergency response capabilities for Ekiti and Theophilus Danjuma airports in Nigeria.
In a significant step towards improving airport safety, twenty aviation firefighters have successfully graduated from a specialized training program at the Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting School, under the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria. This training was sponsored by the Ekiti State Government and Theophilus Danjuma Airport, located in Taraba State, as part of the ongoing certification process for both airports. The rigorous program focused on practical, simulation-based aircraft firefighting techniques essential for effective emergency response in aviation settings.
Umar Aliyu, the Head of Department for Fire and Safety at Theophilus Danjuma Airport, emphasized the importance of this training in securing the airport's operational license. He noted that, while the trainees had previously completed theoretical courses in firefighting, this hands-on training was crucial for equipping them with the necessary skills to handle real-life emergency situations. The graduation marks a pivotal achievement in enhancing the safety standards of both airports, aligning them with regulatory requirements.
The initiative reflects the commitment of the Ekiti State Government and the management of Theophilus Danjuma Airport to prioritizing safety in aviation operations. The successful training of these firefighters not only improves emergency readiness but also contributes to the overall confidence in Nigeria's aviation industry. As air travel continues to grow, ensuring well-trained personnel is essential for maintaining safety and operational standards in airports across the country.
