At the 2026 AFN Golden League held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Chidera Ezeakor and Chinonso Odinaka displayed remarkable speed and skill in their respective sprint events. Ezeakor, the reigning National Sports Festival 100m men's champion, achieved a clean sweep in the 100m and 200m categories, securing victory in the 200m with a personal best of 20.83 seconds. His performance significantly outpaced his competitors, underscoring his dominance in the event even under challenging weather conditions, with a headwind affecting the race.
In the menβs 200m, Ezeakor's performance was particularly noteworthy, as he showcased his ability to maintain speed through the bend and into the home straight. His closest competitor, Paul Otagba, finished a considerable distance behind at 21.66 seconds, while Enoch Dabo took third place. Meanwhile, in the womenβs 200m event, Chinonso Odinaka emerged victorious in Final A, clocking in at 24.13 seconds, just narrowly edging out Mariam Jegede who finished with a time of 24.16 seconds.
