Victims of the Braskem disaster in Maceió are campaigning to ensure the tragedy's impact is not forgotten and that reparations are made.
Eight years after the onset of the tragedy caused by rock salt mining in Maceió, victims continue to advocate for recognition and reparations for the extensive damage suffered. The disaster began on March 3, 2018, when the first tremor was recorded, leading to the evacuation and destruction of several neighborhoods, including Pinheiro, Bebedouro, Bom Parto, Mutange, and part of Farol, affecting around 60,000 individuals. In an effort to raise awareness about the ongoing issues and the need for reparations, the initiative 'Nosso Chão, Nossa História' has launched the campaign 'Para Sempre, Nosso Chão'.
