"The phone won't connect" Shouted staff, AI system saved the driving school

An AI automated voice system developed by Show Corporation is addressing the issues faced by driving school staff during the elderly license renewal process, making it easier to book appointments.

In Japan, the process of renewing driver's licenses for individuals over 70 requires mandatory training called 'senior education', which has caused significant stress for driving school staff due to overwhelming phone call demand. The situation became unmanageable, with staff receiving complaints for not being able to connect calls, consuming about 30 hours a month just to handle booking inquiries. Show Corporation developed an AI-based automated phone system to provide 24-hour booking services, alleviating this burden on employees.

This innovation was prompted by firsthand experiences of employees, like Shoko Wada, who, having transitioned from a bank to the family business, witnessed the frustration their staff faced when inundated with booking calls each morning. The development of the AI system has led to not only improved efficiency but also reduced stress for staff members, as they are no longer the recipients of angry calls from frustrated customers.

The implementation of this AI-driven solution has generated positive feedback, indicating enhanced efficiency within the driving school operations. This technological advancement showcases how AI can effectively solve pressing operational challenges while boosting employee morale, highlighting a transformative approach in the handling of customer service within the driving education sector in Japan.
