Bolsonaristas go to the USA to meet Eduardo and coordinate a name for the Senate of SP
A group of Bolsonaristas will visit the USA to meet with ex-deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro to discuss candidates for the Senate race in São Paulo.
A delegation of Bolsonarista lawmakers is set to travel to the USA on November 11 to meet with Eduardo Bolsonaro, the former federal deputy who is currently in self-imposed exile. The main agenda of their trip is to discuss the political landscape and potential candidates for the upcoming elections, particularly focusing on filling a vacant Senate seat in São Paulo that was initially reserved for Eduardo himself. Due to his inability to run, he is keen on endorsing a candidate to take his place during the elections.
Currently, there is growing discontent within Eduardo Bolsonaro's circle regarding the preferred choice of his father, Jair Bolsonaro, who supports the candidacy of São Paulo's Deputy Mayor, Mello Araújo (PL). Instead, the group emphasizes their preference for federal deputy Mário Frias (PL-SP) as the ideal candidate for the position. This delegation may include up to 20 lawmakers, confirming their collective interest in aligning on a single candidate and strengthening their political strategy going into the crucial election year.
The discussions over candidate selection not only highlight the internal dynamics within Jair Bolsonaro’s political faction but also underline the larger implications for the 2024 elections in Brazil. As Eduardo seeks to solidify his influence despite his departure from the political arena, the decisions made during this trip could significantly impact the electoral landscape and the direction of the Senate in São Paulo, affecting the Bolsonarista agenda moving forward.
