A calf that was in danger of drowning due to being trapped in a barbed wire fence in a flooded area in Rio Pardo de Minas was rescued on Tuesday, October 3rd, by the Municipal Brigade. The rescue came about after the local Fire Department's ongoing monitoring of floods and heavy rains affecting the North of Minas Gerais. While assessing the situation, Sergeant Elizio Souza Almeida, the coordinator of the Municipal Brigade, observed several individuals attempting to save the distressed animal.
The calf was found stuck in a fence surrounded by water from the overflowing Preto and Pardo rivers, raising concerns for its safety. Acting swiftly, Sergeant Almeida approached the calf and took necessary measures for its safe retrieval. After immobilizing the calf, he successfully rescued it without any injuries to the animal, ensuring that it was safe from drowning.
Following the rescue, the calf was returned to the custody of its owner, highlighting the community's commitment to animal welfare amid severe flooding conditions.
