Bayero University Kano has issued a warning regarding stray animals on its campuses, stating that it will impound any animals found roaming freely and impose sanctions on their owners. This statement was made by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, who highlighted that the rearing of animals within university premises is strictly prohibited according to the Revised Guidelines for Staff Housing Allocation and Maintenance.

The university management's directive aims to uphold existing regulations surrounding housing and ensure a clean and safe environment for its community members. The decision underscores the importance of adhering to the university's rules, which have been established to protect public health and safety. The statement further emphasizes that residents who own domestic animals must properly confine them to prevent violations that could lead to environmental issues.

To enforce these regulations, the university’s Security Division has been instructed to commence the immediate arrest and impoundment of any stray animals. This proactive approach reflects the university’s commitment to maintaining order on campus and addressing potential health and safety risks posed by free-roaming animals.
